Furniture care card maker

Choose the finish and whether the piece lives indoors or outside. The card assembles everyday care, the steps for that finish and fire safety for oily rags where it applies. For owners, our care guide for oiled tables explains the why.

The texts are general woodworking practice. Your own instructions and the finish manufacturer’s data sheet come first: check and edit before you hand the card over.

Caring for your piece

Oak dining table

Made by Northwood Studio · Finish: hardwax oil

Everyday care

  • —Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry straight away. Avoid household cleaners, polishes with silicone, and microfibre cloths soaked in detergent.
  • —Keep away from radiators, fireplaces and underfloor heating hotspots. Strong sunlight changes the colour of wood over time; move objects on the surface now and then so it changes evenly.
  • —Solid wood moves with the seasons and is most comfortable in a room with moderate, steady humidity (roughly 40–60% relative humidity). Small seasonal movement is normal.
  • —Use coasters and trivets. Wipe spills immediately, especially wine, oil, coffee and citrus.
  • —Questions or damage: contact Northwood Studio at hello@example.com. Many marks can be repaired, so please ask before trying to fix it yourself.

Hardwax oil finish

  • —Allow 14 days to cure before heavy use.
  • —For regular cleaning use a pH-neutral soap suited to oiled or waxed surfaces, diluted in water.
  • —Fire safety: rags soaked in drying oils can self-heat and catch fire. Lay them flat to dry outdoors or soak them in water before disposal.

In Zurgina, the care card is generated from the finish you record during the build and printed with the passport QR code.
